About Us
michael is a registered architect with over 10 years of experience both in residential renovation and in commercial construction. He has Masters in Architecture from Harvard University and Professional Bachelor in Architecture from the University of Miami. He has spent his career obsessed with intelligent design, and he enjoys working with clients to help them love where they live.
After starting his career in Miami, he realized that classically trained architects design in ways not informed by means and methods in construction. This often creates friction between the clients, architects and GCs, and slows progress during a project. The design aesthetic is inevitably compromised, and he wanted to find a better way. After returning to school to pursue his masters degree at Harvard's Graduate School of Design, he then spent 7 years working in commercial construction in NYC.
This gives michael a unique set of skills: he is a registered architect with a strong modern aesthetic, he is an NYC construction expert, and he has built a network of partners and vendors that he trusts and collaborates with to execute stunning projects.
It is this network that puts the “group” in m-design group.
michael’s unique approach to design-build is routed in this experience and mdg focuses on making complex, historic renovations look like effortless, modern homes. mdg will design your home and then work with his trusted partners to deliver the high quality, highly functional space you will love to live in everyday.
Jodi assists as a design partner and runs the business operations, ensuring projects remain on budget and on time. She maintains our network of partners and oversees budgets, contracts and payments.
Jodi holds a BA in Economics from University of Michigan and an MBA from NYU Stern School of Business.
